Family means no one gets left behind, or forgotten. Calling Furman one big family is not really accurate. The difference: familiar faces have never asked to borrow money and never paid it back. I think a more accurate, and more meaningful, statement is that Furman is one big network of families. Everyone comes to college trying to find their niche, and just like a nihilist lookalike contest, Furman is full of niches. For me, I found one of my families in improv, a group of people who were as willing to be weird and silly and ridiculous as I was. I found one in the Echo, with a bunch of fellow hipsters who liked poring over poems and short stories in their free time and getting the opportunity to brood with a group. Others find it in athletics, or Greek life, or any given a cappella group we have on campus.

I remember my mom introducing us. Well, kind of. He mostly just appeared out of nowhere, and my mom told us to get along because he'd be coming around a lot. I think she thought I'd have some kind of territorial breakdown over some random guy stepping into my house. He was weird, he listened to his music about 18 decibels too loud, and he watched "Family Guy.

Jeffrey: Absolutely. I feel great responsibility to take care of him. He is one of the most incredible human beings in the world and the honor of representing someone like that, coming out of how incredible that was is certainly not lost on me. So in short, yeah.
I like to think that family is anyone that is close to you that looks after you and cares for you. They look out for each other and live the last moments of their lives together. The relationship they have is esprit de corps. The relationship they share is a higher than family. They have all gotten to the point where they just want to hold on to life and hold it close to them. Imagine being in a war at age
